Key Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site inspections of plumbing installations in residential, commercial, and industrial properties to ensure compliance with adopted plumbing codes (e.g., UPC, IPC) and local ordinances.
  • Review and interpret construction plans, blueprints, specifications, and related documents to verify proposed plumbing systems meet regulatory standards.
  • Identify and document code violations, unsafe conditions, and deviations from approved plans, issuing corrective notices as required.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, property owners, engineers, and other stakeholders regarding inspection findings, code requirements, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all inspections, including dates, locations, findings, and resolutions, utilizing digital systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and clarification on plumbing code requirements to applicants, designers, and contractors.
  • Investigate complaints related to plumbing work and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Collaborate with other inspection disciplines (e.g., electrical, building) to ensure comprehensive project compliance.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops to stay current with changes in plumbing codes, regulations, and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a licensed Plumber or Plumbing Inspector.
  • Thorough knowledge of adopted plumbing codes (UPC/IPC), related building codes, and municipal ordinances.
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
  • Strong observational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining technical information clearly.
  • Proficiency in using computers for record-keeping, report generation, and communication.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record for travel to various inspection sites.
  • Strong ethical conduct and commitment to public safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ICC (International Code Council) Plumbing Inspector certification or equivalent.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with electronic plan review and inspection software systems.
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., English/Spanish) is a plus.
