Key Responsibilities
- Operate various material handling equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks, and pallet jacks, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Load and unload freight from trucks, trailers, and containers, ensuring proper securing and handling.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against manifests and other documentation, noting any discrepancies.
- Accurately scan, label, and store inventory in designated locations within the terminal.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, adhering to all company safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and truck drivers to optimize workflow and resolve operational challenges.
- Perform routine inventory counts and assist with cycle counts as required.
- Package, sort, and stage outgoing freight for timely dispatch.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) for data entry and tracking purposes.
Required Skills
- Proven experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks consistently.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and WMS interaction.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety procedures and a safe work environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic logistics setting.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid forklift certification.
- Prior experience in a terminal, warehouse, or distribution center environment.
- Familiarity with inventory management principles and warehouse operations.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and hazmat handling procedures (where applicable).
