Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly skilled and exceptionally diligent Full-Time Mechanical Inspector to join a rapidly evolving and dynamic team located in the picturesque community of Rattlesnake, Missoula. This role demands more than just measurement; it requires a critical thinker capable of interpreting results, identifying root causes of potential failures, and recommending proactive solutions. You will engage in close, collaborative partnerships with our innovative production, engineering, and dedicated quality assurance teams, proactively identifying non-conformances, meticulously troubleshooting complex issues, and spearheading the implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions that drive continuous improvement. Furthermore, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining detailed inspection reports, documenting all findings, and ensuring traceability throughout the inspection process. Your daily tasks will involve performing first-article inspections to validate initial production runs, conducting in-process checks to monitor ongoing quality, and executing final inspections to certify products before shipment. This comprehensive approach ensures that every product leaving our facility meets our uncompromising standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed dimensional and visual inspections of mechanical components, parts, and assemblies using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM).
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and quality control documents to ensure product compliance.
- Identify, document, and report non-conformances, defects, and deviations from established quality standards.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to investigate root causes of defects and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate and organized inspection records, logs, and reports.
- Conduct first-article, in-process, and final inspections according to established procedures.
- Ensure all inspection equipment is calibrated and maintained in good working condition.
- Assist in the development and improvement of inspection procedures and quality control processes.
- Participate in quality audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Expertise in using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.).
- Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Knowledge of quality control methodologies and standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to identify and document defects accurately.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications for data entry and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
- Certification in Quality Inspection (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector).
- Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation and programming.
- Familiarity with various manufacturing processes (machining, welding, assembly).
- Prior experience in an aerospace, automotive, or medical device manufacturing environment.
