Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly vigilant, proactive, and dedicated Loss Prevention Officer to join our dynamic team located in the vibrant Giraffe Centre area of Nairobi. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular patrols and surveillance of premises to deter and detect theft, vandalism, and other illicit activities.
  • Monitor CCTV and alarm systems, responding promptly to security alerts and suspicious incidents.
  • Perform thorough investigations into security breaches, theft incidents, and other losses, documenting findings accurately.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures related to loss prevention and security.
  • Collaborate with management to identify security vulnerabilities and recommend preventative measures.
  • Detain individuals suspected of theft or other crimes, following legal protocols, until law enforcement arrives.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records of all security-related activities.
  • Provide security presence and assistance to staff and visitors as needed.
  • Conduct employee bag checks and package inspections in accordance with company policy.
  • Assist in training staff on loss prevention awareness and security best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in loss prevention, security, or a related field (minimum 2 years).
  • Strong observational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive in stressful situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in operating CCTV and security surveillance equipment.
  • Knowledge of legal procedures related to detention and evidence collection.
  • Basic computer literacy for report writing and data entry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in Criminology, Security Management, or a related field.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience with advanced security systems and access control technologies.
  • Fluency in Swahili and English.
  • Previous experience in a retail or commercial security environment.
