You’ll be trained on the job by experienced professionals, learning to operate and calibrate sophisticated tools such as CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines), optical comparators, calipers, micrometers, and various gauges. Key Responsibilities
- Perform dimensional inspections of components and assemblies using a variety of metrology equipment, including CMMs, optical comparators, calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges.
- Calibrate and maintain measurement tools and equipment according to established procedures and schedules.
- Document inspection results accurately, interpret engineering drawings and specifications, and report any discrepancies.
- Assist in the development and improvement of measurement processes and techniques.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and resolve quality-related issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the metrology lab.
- Learn and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles.
- Participate in training and continuous learning initiatives to enhance technical skills.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints (basic understanding).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in Metrology, Quality Control, Machining, or a related technical field.
- Prior experience (even academic or hobbyist) with precision measurement tools.
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Basic understanding of ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.
- Exposure to statistical process control (SPC) concepts.
