Job Description

Career.zycto is excited to announce an opening for a dynamic and inspiring Part-Time Cheerleading Coach to lead and mentor our developing cheer squad in the Rimrock, Laurel area. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape young athletes, instilling in them not only the fundamentals of cheerleading but also crucial life skills such as teamwork, discipline, leadership, and sportsmanship. We are seeking a coach who is passionate about cheerleading and dedicated to creating a positive, safe, and challenging environment for participants to thrive.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and executing engaging practice sessions, developing routines that showcase the team’s strengths, and preparing athletes for performances and competitions. You will play a pivotal role in fostering a strong team spirit, encouraging individual growth, and ensuring the overall well-being and safety of all squad members. This position requires someone with excellent communication skills, a proven ability to motivate and instruct diverse age groups, and a deep understanding of cheerleading techniques and safety protocols. You will be a role model, inspiring confidence and enthusiasm, while also managing logistical aspects such as attendance, equipment, and parent communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive practice plans, drills, and conditioning exercises.
  • Teach fundamental to advanced cheerleading techniques, including stunts, tumbling, jumps, and cheers.
  • Choreograph engaging and safe routines for performances and competitions.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all squad members during practices and events.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivational team environment.
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and program administrators regarding schedules, progress, and concerns.
  • Manage team logistics, including attendance tracking, equipment inventory, and uniform distribution.
  • Adhere to all program, school, and league rules, regulations, and safety guidelines.
  • Attend all scheduled practices, games, and competitions as required.
  • Serve as a positive role model, promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
  • Assist with recruitment and retention efforts for the cheerleading program.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in cheerleading techniques (stunts, tumbling, jumps).
  • Strong leadership and motivational abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse age groups (youth/teenagers).
  • Knowledge of cheerleading safety protocols and first aid.
  • Organizational skills for planning practices and managing logistics.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • NFHS Spirit Safety Certification or equivalent.
  • Previous coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level.
  • Experience in choreographing cheerleading routines.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Physical Education, Sports Management).
