This is a unique opportunity for highly motivated and experienced investigative professionals to contribute to global efforts in combating illicit drug trafficking and organized crime. While the direct employer is an international entity operating within Australia, this role demands adherence to investigative principles and operational standards commensurate with those upheld by leading international drug enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

As a DEA Agent, you will be at the forefront of complex investigations, focusing on disrupting significant drug distribution networks, money laundering schemes, and related criminal enterprises that pose threats both domestically and internationally. This role requires an individual with exceptional analytical capabilities, a profound understanding of criminal law, and the ability to operate effectively in dynamic, often high-pressure environments. You will be responsible for gathering intelligence, conducting surveillance, executing search warrants, interviewing suspects and witnesses, and preparing comprehensive reports for legal proceedings. The successful candidate will work closely with local and international law enforcement partners, intelligence agencies, and government bodies to achieve shared objectives in drug interdiction and crime reduction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex criminal investigations into illicit drug trafficking and related organized crime activities.
  • Gather, analyze, and disseminate intelligence to identify and disrupt criminal networks.
  • Perform surveillance operations, execute search and arrest warrants, and collect evidence in accordance with legal protocols.
  • Interview suspects, witnesses, and informants; obtain statements and testimonies.
  • Prepare detailed reports, case summaries, and evidentiary documentation for prosecutorial purposes.
  • Collaborate effectively with local, federal, and international law enforcement agencies and intelligence partners.
  • Participate in undercover operations and maintain secure communication channels when required.
  • Testify in court proceedings as an expert witness regarding investigations and findings.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all ethical guidelines and legal statutes.
  • Continuously update knowledge on emerging drug trends, criminal methodologies, and legal developments.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in law enforcement, criminal investigation, or intelligence roles.
  • Strong understanding of Australian criminal law, evidence collection, and judicial processes.
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to conduct complex investigations from inception to prosecution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and public speaking.
  • Proficiency in surveillance techniques and investigative software/databases.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and ethical conduct.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-agency team.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Criminology, Law Enforcement, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience with international law enforcement cooperation or cross-border investigations.
  • Proficiency in a second language relevant to international drug trafficking routes (e.g., Mandarin, Spanish, Arabic).
  • Specialized training in forensics, cybercrime, or financial investigations.
  • Prior experience in intelligence analysis or counter-narcotics operations.
