Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and customer-focused Night Shift Hotel Front Desk Agent to join our partner’s team in the vibrant Kortright Hills area of Guelph. This pivotal role ensures the smooth operation of the hotel during overnight hours, providing exceptional service and a secure environment for all guests. As the primary point of contact during the night, you will manage arrivals and departures, respond to guest inquiries and requests, and handle any unforeseen circumstances with professionalism and efficiency. Beyond standard check-in/check-out procedures, this position involves essential administrative tasks, including preparing reports, processing payments, and maintaining detailed records. The ideal candidate will possess a natural aptitude for problem-solving, a calm demeanor under pressure, and an unwavering commitment to guest satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guests warmly upon arrival, completing check-in procedures efficiently and accurately during night hours.
  • Handle guest check-outs, process payments, and provide accurate billing information.
  • Address guest inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally, escalating issues to management when necessary.
  • Answer and direct incoming calls, taking messages as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized front desk and lobby area.
  • Perform night audit duties, including balancing daily transactions, preparing reports, and ensuring accuracy of accounts.
  • Monitor security cameras and manage access to the hotel, ensuring guest safety and property security.
  • Assist with reservations and future bookings, providing information on hotel services and local attractions.
  • Handle wake-up call requests and deliver messages to guests.
  • Conduct regular property walks to ensure guest security and compliance with hotel policies.
  • Support other departments as needed during the overnight shift.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 6 months of experience in a customer service or hospitality role.
  • Proficiency with hotel management systems (PMS) and standard office software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively during the night shift.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a calm approach to unexpected situations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a genuine desire to assist guests.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial transactions and records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Night Auditor or Hotel Front Desk Agent.
  • Familiarity with the Guelph area and local attractions.
  • Second language proficiency is a plus.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in hospitality is an asset.
