Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and dispatch drivers for timely pickup and delivery of goods during night shifts.
- Optimize routes and schedules to ensure maximum efficiency and on-time performance.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse personnel, and customers regarding status updates, delays, and issues.
- Monitor driver locations and progress using GPS and dispatch software.
- Address and resolve unexpected logistical challenges, such as breakdowns, traffic issues, or delivery discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including driver logs, mileage, and delivery confirmations.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and transportation laws (e.g., hours of service).
- Prepare daily dispatch reports and handover summaries for the next shift.
- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed to support warehouse and logistics operations.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a dispatch or logistics coordination role, preferably in a warehouse or transportation setting.
- Proven ability to work independently and make critical decisions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with dispatch software (e.g., TMS, WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong geographical knowledge of Guelph and surrounding areas.
