Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and backhoes.
  • Perform daily pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance checks on machinery.
  • Adhere strictly to all site safety regulations, company policies, and environmental guidelines.
  • Interpret and execute work from blueprints, site plans, and verbal instructions.
  • Conduct excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and material handling tasks.
  • Ensure accurate completion of tasks to project specifications and quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with site supervisors, engineers, and other team members.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, damage, or safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist with manual labour when equipment is not in use or as required by the project.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
  • Valid CPCS or NPORS certification for relevant machinery.
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, blueprints, and topographical maps.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Plant Operations or a related field.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Experience with GPS-enabled grading systems.
  • Proven experience operating a wide variety of heavy machinery.
  • Clean driving license with relevant categories (e.g., HGV).
