Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and backhoes.
- Perform daily pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance checks on machinery.
- Adhere strictly to all site safety regulations, company policies, and environmental guidelines.
- Interpret and execute work from blueprints, site plans, and verbal instructions.
- Conduct excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and material handling tasks.
- Ensure accurate completion of tasks to project specifications and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, engineers, and other team members.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, damage, or safety concerns promptly.
- Assist with manual labour when equipment is not in use or as required by the project.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
- Valid CPCS or NPORS certification for relevant machinery.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to interpret technical documents, blueprints, and topographical maps.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Plant Operations or a related field.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with GPS-enabled grading systems.
