This critical role involves providing essential care and support to clients during overnight hours, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. Key Responsibilities
- Provide overnight supervision and companionship to clients, ensuring their safety and security.
- Assist clients with personal care tasks as needed during the night, including toileting, hygiene, and changing.
- Monitor clients' health status, noting and reporting any significant changes in condition, behavior, or vital signs.
- Administer medication reminders as per care plan and document adherence meticulously.
- Prepare light snacks or beverages as requested by clients, adhering to dietary restrictions.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment for clients throughout the night.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies or urgent situations, following established protocols.
- Document all care activities, observations, and incidents accurately and thoroughly in client care records.
- Communicate effectively with morning shift staff, providing a comprehensive handover of client status and any relevant updates.
- Offer emotional support and companionship, maintaining a calm and reassuring presence.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in caregiving or a related field, preferably with night shift exposure.
- Proven ability to remain alert and attentive during overnight hours.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy and patience.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to lift and assist clients with mobility as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Home Health Aide (HHA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or a relevant caregiving qualification.
- Experience working with elderly clients or individuals with specific medical conditions (e.g., dementia, mobility impairments).
- Familiarity with care planning software or digital documentation systems.
- Fluent in English and Swahili.
