Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas, both on foot and via vehicle, to deter and detect suspicious activities during night hours.
- Monitor CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and other security equipment, responding promptly to any alerts or unusual observations.
- Enforce strict access control procedures, including verifying credentials of personnel and visitors entering and exiting the premises.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations such as fires, medical emergencies, or security breaches, following established protocols.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and daily activity logs, accurately documenting all relevant observations and actions taken.
- Ensure the security of all entry and exit points, checking for vulnerabilities and reporting any issues immediately.
- Provide a visible security presence, acting as a deterrent to criminal activity and reassuring occupants and stakeholders.
- Conduct routine checks of lighting, locks, gates, and other security infrastructure, reporting any malfunctions or damages promptly.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 18 months) as a Security Officer, preferably in a night shift environment.
- Excellent observation and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective under pressure or in emergency situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Swahili.
- Proficiency in operating standard security equipment (CCTV, alarm systems, two-way radios).
- Sound knowledge of security protocols, emergency procedures, and safety regulations.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods during the night.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant security training certifications (e.g., certified guard training from a recognized institution).
- Valid first aid and fire safety certification.
- Experience with advanced surveillance technologies and security software.
- Clean driving license (class BCE and above preferred).
- Knowledge of local security regulations and laws in Kenya, specific to corporate or residential settings.
