As a Battery Technician, you will be instrumental in the assembly, testing, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of various battery systems across a range of applications, including industrial, automotive, and renewable energy storage. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspection, testing, and maintenance of various battery types, including lead-acid, lithium-ion, and nickel-cadmium systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot battery malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective repair strategies.
- Conduct battery assembly and installation in accordance with technical specifications and safety standards.
- Utilize specialized diagnostic tools and equipment to assess battery performance and health.
- Maintain accurate records of battery tests, maintenance activities, and inventory.
- Ensure strict adherence to all workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to provide feedback on battery performance and design improvements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to clients and internal staff regarding battery operations and care.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Battery Technician or in a related electrical/mechanical role.
- Strong understanding of electrical circuits, Ohm's Law, and battery theory.
- Proficiency in using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and battery testing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
- Valid Australian driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade qualification in Electrical, Automotive, or a related technical field.
- Experience with high-voltage battery systems and electric vehicle (EV) batteries.
- Knowledge of battery management systems (BMS) and charging technologies.
- Familiarity with renewable energy storage solutions (e.g., solar, UPS).
- First Aid certification.
