As a Recreation Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in planning, organizing, and supervising a diverse range of recreational programs for participants of all ages. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and lead a variety of recreational activities and programs for diverse age groups.
  • Supervise participants during activities to ensure safety and positive engagement.
  • Prepare and maintain recreational equipment and facilities, ensuring they are clean and in good working order.
  • Promote program participation through effective communication and outreach within the community.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of events, ensuring smooth operation.
  • Respond to inquiries from participants and parents/guardians, providing accurate information and excellent customer service.
  • Administer basic first aid when necessary and adhere strictly to all safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor participant behavior and resolve conflicts in a constructive and positive manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, equipment usage, and incident reports.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills in Portuguese.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and execute engaging recreational activities.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Energetic, patient, and enthusiastic demeanor with a passion for community engagement.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Physical stamina to lead active programs and lift moderate weights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience (1+ year) in a recreation, youth development, hospitality, or similar role.
  • Knowledge of local cultural activities and community dynamics in Namutequeliua.
  • Proficiency in additional local languages (e.g., Macua, Emakhuwa).
  • Certification in specific recreational activities (e.g., sports coaching, arts & crafts, lifeguard training).
  • Secondary school certificate or equivalent.
