Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in dispensing prescriptions accurately and efficiently, strictly adhering to all legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Manage and maintain pharmacy stock, including ordering, receiving, storing, and rotating medications and supplies.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patient queries, offering advice on over-the-counter medicines, and signposting to pharmacists when appropriate.
  • Ensure the pharmacy premises are kept clean, tidy, and organised in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Process sales transactions, handle cash and card payments, and manage the till system with precision.
  • Perform administrative duties such as filing, record-keeping, and updating patient information systems.
  • Support the team in preparing medication for delivery or collection, ensuring all labels and packaging are correct.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance professional knowledge and skills in pharmacy services.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to confidentiality and data protection.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage empathetically with patients and colleagues.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling medications and prescriptions.
  • Strong numeracy skills for handling calculations, stock management, and till operations.
  • Proven customer service experience, demonstrating a patient-focused approach.
  • Ability to work effectively and calmly in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Basic IT literacy, including experience with word processing and email.
  • A proactive and organised approach to tasks, capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Reliability and punctuality, essential for a part-time healthcare role.
  • A compassionate and understanding demeanour.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Pharmacy Services.
  • Previous experience working as a Pharmacy Assistant or in a similar healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy dispensing software and patient management systems.
  • Knowledge of common over-the-counter medications and basic health conditions.
  • First Aid certification.
