Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and proactive Systems Administrator to join our dynamic IT team in Kariobangi, Nairobi, for an immediate start. As a Systems Administrator, you will be the backbone of our technology infrastructure, responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and optimization of our servers, networks, and various IT services. You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, integrity, and security of our data and systems, supporting both internal operations and client-facing solutions. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple priorities effectively, and is dedicated to providing exceptional technical support. Beyond routine maintenance, you will be involved in implementing new technologies, automating tasks, and enhancing our disaster recovery and business continuity plans. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and server hardware.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of IT services.
  • Manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Implement and maintain security measures, including patching, antivirus, and access control.
  • Perform regular data backups and ensure data recovery procedures are effective.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues efficiently.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for IT systems and processes.
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
  • Participate in IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and new technology deployments.
  • Administer virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud services (e.g., Azure, AWS).
  • Collaborate with other IT team members and departments to ensure seamless service delivery.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux operating systems administration.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and network hardware.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM).
  • Proven experience with backup and recovery solutions.
  • Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash) for automation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in a Systems Administrator role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, RHCSA, CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of database administration (SQL Server, MySQL).
  • Experience with IT service management (ITSM) frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
