Job Description
Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and proactive Systems Administrator to join our dynamic IT team in Kariobangi, Nairobi, for an immediate start. As a Systems Administrator, you will be the backbone of our technology infrastructure, responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and optimization of our servers, networks, and various IT services. You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, integrity, and security of our data and systems, supporting both internal operations and client-facing solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and server hardware.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of IT services.
- Manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Implement and maintain security measures, including patching, antivirus, and access control.
- Perform regular data backups and ensure data recovery procedures are effective.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues efficiently.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for IT systems and processes.
- Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
- Participate in IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and new technology deployments.
- Administer virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud services (e.g., Azure, AWS).
- Collaborate with other IT team members and departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux operating systems administration.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and network hardware.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM).
- Proven experience with backup and recovery solutions.
- Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash) for automation.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in a Systems Administrator role.
Preferred Qualifications
