As a Local Delivery Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and safe transportation of goods within the Riverview and greater Moncton area. You’ll work alongside experienced drivers, assisting with loading and unloading, navigating routes efficiently, and interacting professionally with customers. Key Responsibilities
- Assist drivers with loading and unloading packages, parcels, and other goods onto and off delivery vehicles.
- Follow designated delivery routes and schedules under the guidance of a senior driver.
- Ensure the safe and secure handling of all items to prevent damage during transit.
- Verify accuracy of delivery manifests against items being delivered or picked up.
- Interact professionally and courteously with customers during deliveries and pickups.
- Communicate any delays, issues, or customer feedback to the dispatcher or supervisor promptly.
- Assist with basic vehicle inspections and maintenance checks (e.g., fuel, tire pressure) as instructed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the delivery vehicle.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Contribute to a positive team environment and support colleagues as needed.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Punctual, reliable, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic familiarity with Moncton and surrounding areas.
Preferred Qualifications
