Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL, DynamoDB, Cosmos DB).
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimization strategies.
- Develop and maintain database schemas, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and data integrity for all database systems.
- Implement and manage database security measures, including access control, encryption, and auditing.
- Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and operations teams to integrate database solutions into application ecosystems.
- Automate database administration tasks and deployment processes using relevant scripting and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
- Stay abreast of emerging cloud database technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate.
- Provide expert guidance and support to development teams on database best practices and query optimization.
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical database issues.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience as a Database Engineer or similar role.
- Proven experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for database services.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and NoSQL database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Expertise in database design, performance tuning, and query optimization.
- Experience with database backup, recovery, and replication strategies.
- Solid understanding of data security principles and compliance.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Azure Database Administrator Associate, Google Cloud – Professional Cloud Database Engineer).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and their interaction with databases.
