As a Malware Analyst at Career.zycto, you will be on the front lines, employing cutting-edge tools and methodologies to perform in-depth static and dynamic analysis of malicious code. Your day-to-day will involve reverse engineering various malware families, understanding their capabilities, indicators of compromise (IOCs), and command-and-control (C2) mechanisms. You will play a critical role in threat intelligence, contributing to our understanding of emerging threats and advising on proactive defense strategies. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth static and dynamic analysis of malware samples to determine their functionality, origin, and potential impact.
  • Conduct reverse engineering of various malicious software, including executables, scripts, and documents, to extract IOCs and TTPs.
  • Develop and refine custom tools, scripts, and signatures for malware detection, analysis, and containment.
  • Contribute to threat intelligence by researching new malware families, attack vectors, and actor groups.
  • Provide technical support to incident response teams during active security incidents, including forensic analysis and remediation advice.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stay current with the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and analysis techniques.
  • Collaborate with security operations and engineering teams to enhance existing security controls and develop new defenses.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience with static and dynamic malware analysis tools (e.g., IDA Pro, Ghidra, OllyDbg, x64dbg, Wireshark, Procmon, Autoruns).
  • Strong proficiency in reverse engineering techniques for various architectures (x86, x64).
  • Solid understanding of operating system internals (Windows, Linux) and memory management.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python) for automation and analysis.
  • Knowledge of common network protocols, traffic analysis, and network forensics.
  • Familiarity with various malware types, attack methodologies, and threat intelligence frameworks (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM), Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP), or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
  • Experience with cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability research and exploit development principles.
  • Experience with sandboxing technologies and automation frameworks.
  • Published research or contributions to the cybersecurity community (e.g., blog posts, open-source tools).
