Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team in Sunderland. This full-time position is crucial to our daily operations, ensuring the accurate and timely dispatch and receipt of goods, playing a pivotal role in our supply chain efficiency. As a Shipping Clerk, you will be at the heart of our warehouse and distribution center, handling a variety of tasks that contribute to the smooth flow of products. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process shipping documents, including packing lists, commercial invoices, and bills of lading.
  • Verify outgoing shipments against orders and specifications to ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders and carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, such as pallet jacks and forklifts, safely and efficiently (certification preferred).
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks, ensuring proper handling of goods to prevent damage.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular stock checks.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments (sales, customer service) regarding shipment status.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant shipping regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Package items securely, ensuring appropriate labels and documentation are affixed.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies or issues promptly and efficiently.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role for at least 1 year.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift and move packages up to 25 kg and stand for extended periods.
  • Basic mathematical skills for calculating quantities and weights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; further education in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
  • Forklift operator certification (e.g., counterbalance, reach truck).
  • Knowledge of international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
