Your daily activities will span from preparing treatment rooms and sterilizing instruments to assisting with patient examinations and complex treatments. Key Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including examinations, fillings, extractions, and cosmetic treatments.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment in accordance with strict health and safety guidelines.
- Maintain accurate patient records, update medical histories, and manage charting efficiently using dental software.
- Take, develop, and mount dental radiographs (X-rays) while ensuring patient safety.
- Provide clear pre- and post-operative instructions and education to patients, answering their questions with empathy.
- Manage appointment schedules, patient flow, and reception duties as needed.
- Order and maintain dental supplies inventory, ensuring stock levels are optimized.
- Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, cross-infection control, and waste management within the clinic.
- Support patient comfort and build rapport to alleviate anxiety, creating a positive experience.
- Perform light laboratory duties such as pouring models and preparing custom trays.
Required Skills
- General Dental Council (GDC) registration as a Dental Nurse (essential for UK practice)
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant/Nurse (minimum 1 year in a clinical setting)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient care skills
- Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail
- Proficiency in dental practice management software (e.g., SOE Exact, Dentally)
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and calmly in a fast-paced environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of cross-infection control and health & safety protocols
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional radiography qualification
- Current First Aid certification
- Experience with specialist dental procedures (e.g., orthodontics, implants, endodontics)
- Fluency in additional languages to cater to a diverse patient base
