Key Responsibilities
- Perform general grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, strimming, weeding, pruning, and planting.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand tools and power equipment such as mowers, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers.
- Ensure parks, playgrounds, and public areas are clean, safe, and free from litter and hazards.
- Conduct routine inspections of park facilities, reporting any damage or necessary repairs.
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of park furniture, signage, and equipment.
- Participate in seasonal duties such as leaf clearance, gritting paths in winter, and preparing flower beds.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and guidelines.
- Interact professionally and courteously with members of the public.
- Support biodiversity initiatives, including planting native species and managing habitats.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, or a similar outdoor role.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment.
- Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Effective communication skills.
- A proactive and positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Full UK Driving License (Category B).
- NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Horticulture, Amenity Horticulture, or a related field.
- Chainsaw certification (CS30/31 or equivalent).
- PA1/PA6 certification for pesticide application.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
