Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our growing team in Montepuez, Cabo Delgado Province. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare samples for analysis, including crushing, pulverizing, and splitting, following established protocols.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and analyses under the supervision of senior technicians or chemists.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and cleanliness.
- Accurately record and document experimental data, observations, and results in logbooks and digital systems.
- Manage laboratory supplies and inventory, reporting low stock levels and assisting with ordering.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental guidelines and procedures.
- Assist in the disposal of chemical waste in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Contribute to general lab upkeep, ensuring a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; a Diploma or Certificate in Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field is highly advantageous.
- Proven ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and practices.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording and sample handling.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a laboratory setting, particularly in mining, environmental, or chemical analysis.
- Familiarity with various laboratory equipment and analytical techniques.
- Fluency in Portuguese (verbal and written) in addition to English.
