Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and conducting community-based nutrition education workshops and awareness campaigns.
  • Support the distribution of educational materials and nutritional supplements to target populations.
  • Help collect and record anthropometric data (e.g., weight, height) during community screenings.
  • Provide basic, supervised nutrition counseling and guidance to individuals and families.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating community outreach events focused on health and nutrition.
  • Maintain accurate program records, participant data, and inventory of materials.
  • Collaborate with local health workers, community leaders, and volunteers to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the development of simple reports on program activities and outcomes.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.

Required Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of fundamental nutrition principles and public health concepts.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, Community Development, or a related field.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and/or local Mozambican languages (e.g., Shangaan, Gitonga).
  • Previous volunteer or internship experience in community engagement or health programs.
  • Knowledge of local food culture and dietary practices in Mozambique.
