Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated API Engineer to join our growing team in Litherland, Liverpool. At Career.zycto, you’ll be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining the critical APIs that power our diverse suite of products and services. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of API development, from initial concept and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs for various internal and external applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define API specifications and requirements.
- Write clean, well-documented, and testable code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
- Implement robust security measures and data protection mechanisms within API endpoints.
- Perform API testing, debugging, and performance optimization to ensure high availability and responsiveness.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our API platform, tooling, and development processes.
- Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring code quality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to APIs and integrations.
- Document API endpoints, data models, and integration patterns for internal and external developers.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js, Go).
- Strong understanding of API design principles, including RESTful architecture.
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
- Familiarity with version control systems, especially Git.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GraphQL API development.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies.
- Experience with message queues or event streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
