Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining and updating data protection policies, procedures, and records of processing activities.
- Support the Data Protection Officer (DPO) in responding to data subject access requests (DSARs) and other privacy-related inquiries.
- Help conduct data mapping exercises and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) to identify and mitigate privacy risks.
- Monitor and report on compliance with relevant data protection laws and internal policies.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of data privacy training and awareness programs for employees.
- Assist in the investigation and management of data breaches and security incidents, documenting actions taken.
- Provide administrative support to the data protection team, including scheduling meetings and managing documentation.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Law, IT, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Strong understanding of data privacy principles and a keen interest in data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, PIPEDA).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Canadian privacy laws, particularly PIPEDA and Quebec's Bill 64.
- Entry-level certification in data privacy (e.g., IAPP CIPP/E, CIPM, or CDPO).
- Previous experience with data entry, record keeping, or administrative tasks.
- Familiarity with data management systems or privacy compliance software.
