Key Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred emotional, social, and practical support to individuals living with mental health conditions.
  • Assist service users with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household management, as outlined in their care plans.
  • Support service users in developing and maintaining independent living skills and accessing community resources.
  • Accompany individuals to appointments, social activities, and community events to promote engagement and reduce isolation.
  • Implement and contribute to the review of individual care and support plans, ensuring they reflect current needs and goals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, adhering to confidentiality and data protection policies.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, families, and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
  • Identify and report any safeguarding concerns, ensuring the safety and well-being of service users.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 6 months experience in a support worker or care role, preferably within mental health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Strong understanding of person-centred care principles and mental health recovery models.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification.
  • First Aid certification.
