Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux distributions).
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure, ensuring highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Oversee network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and routers, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Implement and manage virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Administer cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and ensure integration with on-premise systems.
- Develop and maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues swiftly and effectively.
- Automate tasks and processes through scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
- Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues and end-users.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in system administration and cybersecurity.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role for at least 4 years.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, Group Policy.
- Proficiency in Linux server environments (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL).
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs).
- Experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware ESXi, Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS).
- Experience with backup and recovery solutions.
- Scripting skills for automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, MCSA/MCSE, CCNA, LPI).
- Experience with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of ITIL frameworks.
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix).
