Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux distributions).
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure, ensuring highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • Oversee network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and routers, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Implement and manage virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Administer cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and ensure integration with on-premise systems.
  • Develop and maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues swiftly and effectively.
  • Automate tasks and processes through scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues and end-users.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in system administration and cybersecurity.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role for at least 4 years.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, Group Policy.
  • Proficiency in Linux server environments (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL).
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs).
  • Experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware ESXi, Hyper-V).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS).
  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions.
  • Scripting skills for automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, MCSA/MCSE, CCNA, LPI).
  • Experience with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of ITIL frameworks.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix).
  • Familiarity with database administration (SQL Server, MySQL).
