Key Responsibilities
- Patrol designated areas on foot or in a vehicle to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
- Monitor surveillance equipment, inspect buildings, equipment, and access points.
- Respond to alarms, investigate disturbances, and intervene in situations to de-escalate conflicts.
- Apprehend or detain individuals suspected of wrongdoing until law enforcement arrives, following legal guidelines.
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
- Operate and maintain security equipment, including access control systems and CCTV.
- Provide clear and concise information and assistance to visitors and employees in a professional manner.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to observe and react quickly to situations.
- Basic computer proficiency for report writing and system monitoring.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Valid provincial Security Guard License (or ability to obtain one prior to employment).
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior customer service experience.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License with a clean driving abstract.
- Experience with security software or surveillance systems.
- Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
