Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, quality standards, and portion control guidelines.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented to the highest standards of taste, quality, and visual appeal.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work station, adhering strictly to food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Head Chef and other kitchen staff to manage inventory, minimize waste, and ensure smooth service flow.
  • Assist with mise en place and prep work for upcoming shifts and events, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and ready.
  • Monitor food stock levels, report discrepancies, and assist in receiving and storing deliveries.
  • Adapt cooking methods and ingredients for guests with special dietary needs or allergies.
  • Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Participate in daily kitchen briefings and contribute to a positive and productive team environment.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Line Cook, preferably within a catering or high-volume restaurant setting.
  • Strong understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Excellent knife skills and ability to work with precision and speed.
  • Solid knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP) and kitchen hygiene practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent culinary qualification.
  • Experience with diverse cuisine styles and menu development.
  • Prior experience working with catering software or inventory management systems.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 or higher.
