Key Responsibilities
- Assist in all aspects of crop production, including land preparation, planting, weeding, pruning, and harvesting.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor crop health, identify pests and diseases, and assist in implementing appropriate control measures.
- Manage irrigation systems, ensuring optimal water distribution to crops.
- Apply fertilizers and other agricultural inputs according to prescribed schedules and guidelines.
- Collect and record data related to crop yield, growth rates, soil conditions, and weather patterns.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of farm facilities and tools.
- Participate in soil testing and analysis to inform fertilization strategies.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Assist with post-harvest activities, including sorting, grading, and packaging of produce.
- Provide regular reports on farm activities and observations to the farm manager.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of practical experience in a farming or agricultural setting.
- Demonstrable knowledge of basic crop production techniques and farm operations.
- Ability to operate basic farm machinery (e.g., tillers, pumps).
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Good physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic record-keeping and data collection abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to sustainable agricultural practices.
- Valid Kenyan driver's license (motorcycle or light vehicle) is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
