Are you a vigilant, reliable, and highly responsible Security Guard looking for a challenging yet rewarding night shift role? Career.zycto is urgently seeking a dedicated Security Guard to safeguard a prominent construction site in City Centre, York. This critical full-time position requires an individual committed to maintaining a secure environment throughout the night, protecting valuable assets, and ensuring the safety of the site.
Working independently for the majority of your shift, you will be the eyes and ears of the project, responsible for preventing unauthorized access, deterring theft and vandalism, and responding to any security incidents that may arise. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular and thorough patrols of the construction site, including all access points, perimeters, and sensitive areas, throughout the night shift.
- Monitor CCTV systems and alarms, responding promptly and appropriately to any alerts or suspicious activities.
- Control access to the site, verifying credentials of any personnel or deliveries arriving during your shift and maintaining accurate logbooks.
- Deter and report any instances of unauthorized entry, theft, vandalism, or other security breaches to relevant authorities and site management.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and daily activity logs, documenting observations, patrols, and any unusual occurrences.
- Respond effectively to emergencies such as fire alarms, medical incidents, or security threats, following established protocols.
- Ensure all gates, doors, and access points are secured at all times when not in use or during site closure.
Required Skills
- Valid SIA Security Guarding license (or Door Supervisor equivalent)
- Proven experience in a security role, preferably on a construction site or similar industrial environment
- Excellent observational and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
- Strong understanding of security protocols and emergency procedures
- Physical fitness to conduct regular patrols across varying terrains and in all weather conditions
- Basic IT proficiency for report writing and CCTV monitoring
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically on a night shift
- First Aid at Work certification
- Experience with site-specific access control systems
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to construction sites
