Job Description
Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated Joiner for an immediate start in the vibrant Broughton area of Edinburgh. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional to join a dynamic team working on a variety of exciting construction and renovation projects, ranging from residential developments to commercial fit-outs across the city. We are looking for an individual with a strong work ethic, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high-quality craftsmanship.
As an integral part of our project teams, you will be responsible for a wide range of joinery tasks from inception to completion. This includes everything from first-fix elements such as erecting timber frames, roofing, and flooring, to intricate second-fix duties like hanging doors, fitting architraves, skirting boards, and window frames. You will also be involved in bespoke carpentry, cabinet making, and the installation of kitchens and other fitted furniture. The ideal candidate will be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure all work meets exact standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
- Execute first-fix joinery tasks including timber frame erection, roofing, and flooring installation.
- Perform second-fix joinery tasks such as hanging doors, fitting skirtings, architraves, and window frames.
- Install kitchens, bathrooms, and other fitted furniture and bespoke joinery items.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
- Ensure all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and within project deadlines.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and best practices on site.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Measure, cut, and shape wood, laminates, and other materials according to specifications.
- Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and project managers.
- Conduct site surveys and provide accurate material estimates when required.
- Identify and resolve on-site issues related to joinery work.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a qualified Joiner.
- Proficiency in both first and second-fix joinery.
- Excellent knowledge of timber properties and construction techniques.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Full valid UK driving license.
- CSCS card (or equivalent).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- SVQ Level 3 in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with bespoke furniture making or intricate joinery.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience working on varied residential and commercial projects.
