Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a delivery vehicle to transport goods to designated locations.
- Plan and optimize delivery routes to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
- Verify contents of shipments against shipping documents upon loading and unloading.
- Obtain necessary signatures and complete delivery paperwork accurately.
- Provide exceptional customer service during all interactions with clients.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any maintenance issues.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company safety regulations.
- Handle packages with care to prevent damage.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
Required Skills
- Valid Driver's License (Class D or equivalent)
- Clean driving record (minimal or no moving violations)
- Ability to lift and carry packages up to 50 lbs
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Excellent navigation and route planning abilities
- Customer service-oriented attitude
- Basic communication skills (reading, writing, speaking English)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a delivery driver or in a similar transportation role
- Familiarity with the Prichard, Mobile, and surrounding Alabama areas
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to use GPS and smartphone applications for routing and delivery management
