Career.zycto is urgently seeking a dedicated and professional Class 2 HGV Driver to join our thriving network, based out of the vibrant city of York. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class 2 HGV vehicle for local and regional deliveries, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Conduct thorough daily vehicle checks (pre-shift and post-shift) to ensure roadworthiness and promptly report any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Load and unload goods using appropriate equipment, ensuring proper securing of loads to prevent damage or shifting during transit.
- Adhere strictly to all road transport regulations, including tachograph rules, driver hours, and working time directives, maintaining accurate records.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, including completion of delivery notes, manifests, and defect reports, ensuring all documentation is precise and submitted on time.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and collections, representing the company professionally and courteously at all times.
- Navigate routes efficiently, utilising route planning tools, GPS, and local knowledge to ensure timely deliveries and optimise efficiency.
- Communicate effectively and proactively with depot staff, transport planners, and customers regarding delivery schedules, potential delays, or any operational issues.
- Comply with all company health and safety procedures, environmental policies, and site-specific regulations at all collection and delivery points.
Required Skills
- Valid UK Class 2 (Category C) HGV driving licence.
- Valid Driver Qualification Card (CPC) with no outstanding modules.
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card with a good understanding of regulations.
- Proven experience driving Class 2 HGV vehicles for a minimum of 2 years.
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and vehicle maintenance basics.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading and securing cargo.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- Reliable, punctual, and highly organised with a strong work ethic.
- Good geographical knowledge of York and surrounding areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with various types of goods or specific industry experience (e.g., pallet network, construction materials, retail distribution).
- Forklift licence (e.g., Counterbalance, Reach) or experience operating other material handling equipment.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to identify and report minor vehicle faults efficiently.
- Experience with temperature-controlled deliveries or hazardous goods (ADR) certification.
