Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the comprehensive planning, execution, and post-event evaluation of all hotel events.
  • Cultivate and manage client relationships from initial inquiry through to post-event follow-up.
  • Develop detailed event proposals, contracts, and manage associated budgets and financial targets.
  • Coordinate seamlessly with internal departments (e.g., Food & Beverage, Operations, Sales) and external vendors to ensure flawless event delivery.
  • Supervise, mentor, and motivate the events team to ensure high performance and adherence to service standards.
  • Conduct thorough site inspections and manage all on-the-day logistics to guarantee smooth event operation.
  • Proactively identify and secure new event business opportunities to grow the hotel’s events portfolio.
  • Ensure all events strictly adhere to health, safety, and relevant licensing regulations.
  • Analyze event success metrics, gather client feedback, and implement continuous improvements.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and competitor activities to maintain a competitive edge.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in event management, with a significant portion in a hotel or venue setting.
  • Proven ability to manage complex budgets, negotiate contracts, and achieve revenue targets.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong capability for multitasking.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities, with experience in mentoring staff.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in event management software (e.g., Delphi, Amadeus Sales & Event Management) and standard office suites.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by event schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Event Management, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Certification in Event Management (e.g., CMP – Certified Meeting Professional).
  • Demonstrable sales and business development experience within the events sector.
  • Strong existing network and familiarity with the Sheffield events market.
  • Experience with luxury hotel brands or high-volume event venues.
