Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for various materials including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry, using relevant software packages.
- Produce detailed design calculations, technical reports, specifications, and drawings in accordance with Eurocodes and British Standards.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, M&E engineers, contractors, and clients throughout all project stages.
- Conduct site visits, structural surveys, and inspections to assess existing conditions and monitor construction progress.
- Identify and resolve complex engineering challenges, proposing innovative and cost-effective structural solutions.
- Ensure designs comply with health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and all relevant building codes.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of best practices within the team.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources efficiently to deliver projects on schedule and within scope.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Proven experience as a Structural Engineer, preferably within a consultancy environment.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., Tekla Structural Designer, Revit, AutoCAD, CSC Tedds).
- Strong understanding of Eurocodes and British Standards related to structural design.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or actively working towards it with a recognized institution (e.g., IStructE, ICE).
- Experience with sustainable design principles and low-carbon construction methods.
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) workflows.
- Project management experience or certification.
