Key Responsibilities
- Accurately assess vehicle damage, prepare comprehensive repair estimates, and document findings.
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble vehicle parts, panels, and structural components with precision.
- Perform various body repair techniques including panel beating, dent removal, filling, sanding, and shaping to restore vehicle aesthetics.
- Utilize specialized equipment to straighten vehicle chassis and frames, ensuring structural integrity and alignment.
- Conduct welding, riveting, and bolting of new or repaired body sections as required.
- Ensure all repairs meet or exceed manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and strict safety regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with paint technicians, mechanics, and other workshop staff to ensure seamless repair processes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering strictly to all health and safety protocols.
- Perform final quality checks on all repaired bodywork to guarantee impeccable finish and functionality.
- Stay updated with the latest automotive repair technologies, tools, and best practices through continuous learning.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Panel Beater or Auto Body Repair Technician.
- Proficiency in various panel beating techniques, including dent pulling, panel alignment, and advanced spot welding.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle construction, different types of materials (steel, aluminum, composites), and repair methodologies.
- Ability to safely and effectively use a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and specialized body repair equipment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to high-quality, flawless workmanship.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities in assessing complex vehicle damage.
- Physical stamina, manual dexterity, and the ability to work in various positions.
- Valid Rwandan driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Basic computer literacy for job card management and repair documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical vocational training or certification in automotive body repair from a recognized institution.
- Experience working with a diverse range of vehicle makes and models, including modern European and Asian brands.
- Familiarity with advanced diagnostic and repair software/systems used in modern workshops.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Kinyarwanda, both verbally and in writing.
- I-CAR or similar industry certifications are a plus.
