Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a wide range of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and rectify electrical faults efficiently to minimize downtime.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical components, wiring, control panels, motors, and machinery.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Conduct thorough electrical safety inspections and ensure strict adherence to all regulations (e.g., 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations).
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns, providing effective and lasting solutions.
  • Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections accurately using a CMMS or similar system.
  • Collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and other maintenance teams.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure a high standard of housekeeping and workplace safety at all times.

Required Skills

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Maintenance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as an Electrical Maintenance Technician.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills for complex electrical systems.
  • Proficient in interpreting electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and P&IDs.
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial electrical control systems, PLCs, VFDs, and motor control circuits.
  • Understanding of relevant Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • Experience with specific PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Certification in First Aid or specific safety training.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, heavy industrial, or facilities management environment.
