Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a wide range of electrical systems and equipment.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and rectify electrical faults efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical components, wiring, control panels, motors, and machinery.
- Interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Conduct thorough electrical safety inspections and ensure strict adherence to all regulations (e.g., 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations).
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns, providing effective and lasting solutions.
- Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections accurately using a CMMS or similar system.
- Collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and other maintenance teams.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
- Ensure a high standard of housekeeping and workplace safety at all times.
Required Skills
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Maintenance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as an Electrical Maintenance Technician.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills for complex electrical systems.
- Proficient in interpreting electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and P&IDs.
- In-depth knowledge of industrial electrical control systems, PLCs, VFDs, and motor control circuits.
- Understanding of relevant Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations qualification.
- Experience with specific PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Certification in First Aid or specific safety training.
- Experience within a manufacturing, heavy industrial, or facilities management environment.
