Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Web Accessibility Testing Specialist to join our remote team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a renowned hospitality brand, ensuring our online platforms are accessible to all users, regardless of ability. As a Web Accessibility Testing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in championing digital inclusivity, identifying and reporting accessibility barriers, and guiding our development efforts to create a seamless and accessible digital experience for our global audience. You will work independently from your remote location, collaborating closely with our web development and content teams to integrate accessibility best practices into our digital ecosystem. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive accessibility audits of our websites and digital platforms using both automated tools and manual testing techniques.
- Perform in-depth evaluations against Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA and AAA standards, and other relevant accessibility laws and standards.
- Identify, document, and prioritize accessibility issues, providing clear, actionable recommendations for remediation to development and design teams.
- Test with various assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers like JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver; speech recognition software; keyboard-only navigation) across different browsers and operating systems.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers and developers to integrate accessibility into the design and development lifecycle, ensuring 'born accessible' solutions.
- Provide expert guidance and training to internal teams on accessibility best practices, tools, and compliance requirements.
- Stay current with the latest accessibility standards, technologies, and legal requirements, proactively recommending updates and improvements.
- Review and provide feedback on third-party integrations and content to ensure they meet our accessibility standards.
- Participate in the creation and maintenance of accessibility documentation, guidelines, and testing protocols.
Required Skills
- Proficient understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA and AAA guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, Lighthouse, WAVE) and manual testing methodologies.
- Strong command of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as they relate to web accessibility.
- Hands-on experience testing with various assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, keyboard navigation).
- Ability to clearly articulate complex accessibility issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing workload effectively in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- IAAP Certification (e.g., CPACC, WAS, ADS) is highly desirable.
- Experience with accessibility testing for mobile applications.
- Familiarity with various Content Management Systems (CMS) and their accessibility implications.
- Previous experience working remotely in a collaborative team environment.
