Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, dressing, bathing, grooming, and mobility.
- Support residents with feeding and hydration, adhering to dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Administer routine medications as prescribed and observe for adverse reactions, reporting any concerns to the nursing staff.
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and other resident data accurately and promptly.
- Provide emotional support, companionship, and engage residents in meaningful activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for residents, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols.
- Assist with transfers, positioning, and ambulation using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding resident care and changes in condition.
- Document care provided and observations in resident charts or electronic health records.
- Respond to call bells and resident requests in a timely and compassionate manner.
Required Skills
- Valid Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) certification from a recognized institution.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR-C certification.
- Demonstrated ability to provide person-centered care with empathy and respect.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong observational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in documenting resident care and observations.
- Physical ability to perform duties including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and assisting with transfers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals living with dementia or cognitive impairments.
- Knowledge of Palliative Care principles and practices.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Additional training in specialized areas such as mental health first aid or wound care.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation (if community care is involved).
