Key Responsibilities
- Monitor inmates and maintain order within the correctional facility during the night shift, ensuring the safety and security of all individuals.
- Conduct regular security checks of cells, common areas, and perimeter, identifying and reporting any suspicious activities or breaches.
- Enforce rules and regulations firmly, fairly, and consistently, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, disturbances, and conflicts, employing de-escalation techniques and appropriate physical interventions when necessary.
- Complete detailed and accurate incident reports, daily logs, and other required documentation.
- Supervise inmate activities, including meals, recreation, and sanitation, ensuring proper conduct and adherence to schedules.
- Process bookings and releases of inmates, including searches, fingerprinting, and verifying identification.
- Facilitate inmate transportation to court, medical appointments, or other designated locations as required.
- Communicate effectively with fellow deputies, supervisors, and other facility staff to ensure seamless operations and information exchange.
- Administer basic first aid and coordinate medical assistance for inmates as needed.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Arizona driver's license.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, psychological evaluation, and physical examination.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and interpersonal interactions.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, particularly in high-pressure or emergency situations.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform duties including standing for long periods, walking, restraining individuals, and responding to physical altercations.
- Demonstrated ability to follow directives and adhere to strict protocols and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in law enforcement, military service, corrections, or security.
- Completion of a recognized correctional officer training academy or program.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, or a related field.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
