Job Description

Are you a meticulous and experienced Payroll Administrator seeking a challenging yet rewarding remote opportunity? As a Payroll Administrator, you will be instrumental in managing the end-to-end payroll process for a diverse portfolio of clients and internal staff. This includes everything from data entry and processing to ensuring compliance with the latest HMRC regulations and pension schemes. You will leverage your expertise in payroll software and your keen eye for detail to handle complex calculations, resolve discrepancies, and provide timely support to employees regarding their pay queries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payrolls accurately and on time.
  • Manage new starters, leavers, and changes to employee records, including P45s, P60s, and P11Ds.
  • Calculate and process statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, SPP, and SAP.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, RTI submissions, and Auto-Enrolment pension requirements.
  • Reconcile payroll data and resolve any discrepancies or queries promptly.
  • Administer benefit schemes, including healthcare and pension contributions.
  • Prepare payroll reports for management and finance departments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with employees regarding payroll queries and provide clear explanations.
  • Assist with year-end payroll procedures and reporting.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Administrator (minimum 2 years).
  • In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation, including HMRC and pension regulations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Sage Payroll, Xero Payroll, Iris Payroll).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CIPP qualification or working towards one.
  • Experience with multiple payroll frequencies and client portfolios.
  • Knowledge of HR systems integration with payroll.
  • Experience in a remote working environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based accounting and payroll solutions.
