As an Optical Assistant, you will be the welcoming face of the practice, playing a crucial role in providing outstanding patient care and support. You’ll be instrumental in guiding patients through their optical journey, from initial welcome to frame selection and aftercare. Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greeting patients and assisting with their initial inquiries, appointment scheduling, and registration.
- Guiding patients through frame selection, offering style advice, and explaining lens options based on their prescription and lifestyle needs.
- Performing pre-screening tests (e.g., auto-refraction, visual field tests) under the supervision of Optometrists.
- Assisting Optometrists during eye examinations as required.
- Dispensing spectacles and contact lenses, ensuring a perfect fit and comfort for patients.
- Providing clear instructions on contact lens insertion, removal, and care.
- Handling spectacle repairs, adjustments, and general maintenance.
- Managing administrative tasks, including maintaining patient records and processing payments.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and professional appearance of the practice and display areas.
- Educating patients on various lens coatings, tints, and protective eyewear options.
- Collaborating effectively with the optical team, including Optometrists and other support staff, to ensure seamless patient flow and service delivery.
- Actively participating in ongoing training and development programs to enhance optical knowledge and skills.
