Your day-to-day could involve everything from first and second fix joinery, installing doors, windows, skirting boards, and architraves, to crafting custom cabinetry, staircases, and intricate joinery elements. Key Responsibilities
- Interpreting and working from technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling timber and other materials to exact standards.
- Performing first fix joinery (e.g., stud work, floor joists, roof timbers) and second fix joinery (e.g., skirting boards, architraves, door frames, doors, window frames).
- Constructing, fitting, and repairing custom cabinets, wardrobes, staircases, and shop fittings.
- Installing fixtures and fittings, including ironmongery.
- Ensuring all work adheres to building regulations, health, and safety standards.
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Collaborating effectively with other tradespeople and project managers.
- Troubleshooting and rectifying any issues that arise during installation or construction.
- Selecting appropriate timber and materials for specific jobs.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Joiner in a construction or fit-out environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Expertise in using a wide range of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong knowledge of various timber types, woodworking techniques, and construction methods.
- Excellent measurement and calculation skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Valid CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Wood Occupations (Site Carpentry/Bench Joinery) or equivalent.
- Experience with bespoke joinery and intricate designs.
- Full UK driving license.
- First Aid certification.
