Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, agreements, and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal formatting.
  • Manage and organize physical and electronic client files, ensuring all documentation is current, accessible, and confidential.
  • Conduct preliminary legal research using various databases and resources to support cases and prepare summaries.
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, depositions, and court hearings, maintaining attorneys' calendars and managing deadlines.
  • Liaise with clients, courts, and other external parties, handling inquiries and providing updates with professionalism and discretion.
  • Assist in preparing for trials, hearings, and meetings, including compiling exhibits, preparing witness lists, and organizing legal materials.
  • Process billing statements, manage expense reports, and track time entries for various cases.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as data entry, photocopying, scanning, and managing office supplies.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in legal research methods and tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Proactive and resourceful problem-solver.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Law, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working in a law firm or legal department (1-2 years preferred).
  • Familiarity with Kenyan legal procedures and court systems.
  • Experience with legal practice management software.
