Key Responsibilities
- Operate public service vehicles (buses) safely and efficiently on scheduled routes within Sutton Coldfield and surrounding areas.
- Adhere strictly to all road traffic regulations, company policies, and safety procedures at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service, assisting passengers with enquiries, directions, and ensuring a pleasant journey for all.
- Handle passenger fares, issue tickets, and manage cash transactions accurately using onboard equipment.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks, report any defects or issues promptly to the maintenance team.
- Maintain punctuality and adhere to assigned timetables, communicating any delays or disruptions.
- Ensure the cleanliness and presentable condition of the vehicle interior and exterior.
- Manage challenging situations or passenger disputes calmly and professionally.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and logs accurately at the start and end of shifts.
- Comply with all health and safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of passengers and self.
Required Skills
- Valid UK PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) driving license (Category D or D1, without 101 restriction)
- Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- Minimum of 12 months professional bus driving experience
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Customer service-oriented approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Punctual and reliable with a strong work ethic
- Good geographical knowledge of Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham or ability to quickly learn routes
- Ability to handle cash and operate ticketing systems accurately
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with diverse passenger demographics
- First Aid certification
- Basic mechanical knowledge relevant to bus operation
- Experience with digital tachographs and scheduling software
