Key Responsibilities
- Manually sort and separate various recyclable materials (e.g., paper, cardboard, plastics, glass, metals) from mixed waste streams on a conveyor belt or sorting line.
- Identify and remove non-recyclable items, contaminants, and hazardous materials from the sorting line, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, including sweeping, tidying, and clearing blockages as necessary.
- Operate basic machinery and equipment used in the sorting process, following all safety guidelines (training provided).
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist with loading and unloading materials, as well as compacting and baling sorted recyclables.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or unusual waste materials to supervisors immediately.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily sorting targets and maintain workflow efficiency.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for extended periods, lifting, bending, and repetitive movements.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify different material types accurately.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety principles in an industrial environment.
