Key Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize and set up instruments, and ensure all necessary equipment is ready for patient procedures.
- Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures, including operative, preventative, restorative, and surgical procedures.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) accurately and efficiently, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Provide patients with pre- and post-operative instructions and education on proper oral hygiene.
- Perform clinical duties such as taking impressions, fabricating temporary crowns, and applying topical fluoride.
- Manage patient records, update medical histories, and accurately chart dental findings and treatments.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control, sterilization, and hazardous waste protocols.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of dental supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and placing orders as needed.
- Act as a friendly and compassionate point of contact for patients, addressing their concerns and ensuring their comfort throughout their visit.
- Perform general office duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and processing payments when required.
Required Skills
- Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program
- Current California Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license
- Valid X-ray license in California
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant in a general dentistry setting
- Proficiency in dental software systems (e.g., Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Current CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with digital impression systems (e.g., iTero, Trios)
- Familiarity with advanced dental procedures such as orthodontics, endodontics, or oral surgery
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is a plus
- Additional certifications (e.g., Coronal Polishing, Pit and Fissure Sealants)
