As a Brewery Operations Assistant, you will play a crucial role across various stages of the brewing process, from raw material handling to fermentation, packaging, and cellar management. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with all aspects of wort production, including milling, mashing, lautering, and boiling.
- Perform yeast pitching, fermentation monitoring, and cellar management duties.
- Execute cleaning-in-place (CIP) and sterilisation-in-place (SIP) procedures for tanks, pipes, and equipment.
- Assist with packaging operations, including bottling, canning, and kegging.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, finished products, and packaging supplies.
- Conduct quality control checks, including gravity readings, pH measurements, and sensory evaluation.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in compliance with all food safety and OHS regulations.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report major faults to senior staff.
- Participate in general brewery maintenance and upkeep.
- Adhere strictly to all standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Required Skills
- Prior experience in a brewing, food production, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of hygiene and sanitation principles.
- Ability to operate and clean complex machinery safely and effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Physical fitness, including the ability to lift up to 25kg regularly.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic knowledge of beer styles and brewing processes.
- Proficiency in following instructions and documented procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certification or qualification in brewing, food science, or a related field.
- Forklift licence.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with automated brewing systems.
- Knowledge of HACCP or other food safety management systems.
